Splash Mountain: Interviews
 |
| Here's
our commemorative photo. My girlfriend is in the very back,
hidden. I'm in front of her, holding a camcorder. (I'm actually
flashing my left breast, but there's a girl's arm in front of
it.) I don't know the four people in front of me. Don't they
look like they're having a great time? |
When I visited
Disneyland in the spring of 1998, I used my camcorder to surreptitiously
capture conversations with two employees working Splash Mountain.
Interview
#1, with a woman helping guests into the logs (RealAudio,
26 KB):
Flash Mountain:
I heard people, like, take their tops off on this ride?
Splash Mountain:
Yeah, but then they don't get their picture, so...
Flash Mountain:
Really, so... Well, I'll try to keep my shirt on.
Interview
#2, with a woman tending the souvenir photo booth (RealAudio,
105 KB):
Flash Mountain:
Do you get a lot of people doing a lot of weird things in these
photos?
Splash Mountain:
Yeah. If its too weird... We trash it.
FM: Really?
You trash it? I hear that... people expose themselves sometimes.
SM: Yeah,
sometimes.
FM: How often
does that happen?
SM: Well,
I got one once.
FM: You've
gotten one?
SM: But it
doesn't happen too often.
FM: You guys
don't have a secret stash of interesting photos?
SM: Actually,
I think it's on the Internet or something.
FM: Really?
I'll have to look for that.
SM: Here you
go. [Hands over the souvenir picture.]
FM: Thanks
a lot.
SM: Thank
you. Have a nice night.
FM: You, too.
